New research proves Seaman High founder's connection with KKK

Fred Seaman's Klan leadership remained dormant knowledge within the Seaman community for almost 100 years. After several discussions with the district board, both Tristan Fangman and I as editors-in-chief decided to write a story exposing the evidence for the first time. Reported on by The Topeka-Capital Journal, KCUR, and picked up by AP News where it spread through 43 publications such as the Washington Post and U.S. News & World Report.

Former Seaman teacher Jeff Pierce faces charges of child porn production and possession

Within the first full week of the school year, Jeff Pierce, freshman history teacher and JV basketball coach, was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the charges of child pornography production and possession. All four senior staffers, including myself, pulled together and wrote an article. We intended to make the students aware of the situation as well as guide them to where they should report any experiences with his alleged online accounts. Fall play coincidence results in a blast from the past

Our fall high school play, You Can't Take it With You, had an unexpected twist – unrelated to the plot – which went unnoticed for decades of time. The theatre department had produced this exact play every 20 years in the years 1978, 1998, and eventually in 2018. With the theatre teachers' help, I was able to delve into the high school's history for the first time. This article solidified my interest in retelling the school's history within our publication.
